Neat, a SFW diesel. I haven't seen too many of them. I would love to see that old gal plowing someday!

The book shows 47 WD45 diesels with single front were made. 1955 &1956 were the only years. Great project.

I suspect theres alot more than 47 units out there now! when all you have to do is drop the wide front and bolt on a single front pedestel... It would realy mean something in rarity if the #'s could be actually tracted or shown in the serial # the automobiles. Any how that's what makes it fun with tractors you can up pretty much up anything!
It will be a nice tractor when restored congrats!

Doesn't the diesel use a different front bolster, though? And if the single wheel takes a special bolster, then that would mean there were only 47 (maybe 1 or 2 more made as spare parts) diesel single front wheel bolsters made? Just thinking...

Single front wheels WD-45's use the same main steering block as the wide front end. You could also bolt on the dual front wheel conversion. This was normally done when the farmer had the wide front tractor most of the year but bolted on the dual conversion, or single front for mounted corn pickers.
