It was a great time for my first trip down there. But I'll cut straight to the chase and get down to the nitty gritty info I was able to scronge up...

Stood next to and listened intently to Kevin Bien while he was talking to some folks yesterday about the new Gleaner Super 7 series. He admitted before that "we couldn't build a **** combine (...?) before, and we had nothing to work for before. The people on the assembly line are extremely excited and proud to build this, and the engineers are finally being rewarded for their hard work, which was something they never got from the company before."

he also said that "70% of the new Gleaners currently ordered are people who are transfering to Gleaner products"

I also talked to a gentleman from agco by saying "I'm confused. Is it a sunflower disc, or a massey disc? Is it a white planter, or is it a massey planter?" and pointed to the massey sticker on the tonge. He gave the same story we've heard before about trying to "tie the brands togeather" and I promtly batted back at every one of his comments by making comparisons, facts, and comments I've heard on here. Of course we stood there and argued for 15 minutes before he finally walked away quickly when we could both catch our breath...

I'd also like to thank Matt Bowers for allowing me to look through the lititure he had for sale, even though I came home empty handed. I really appreciate the time.

It was also fun to watch Young Blood place second on Wednesday night, hopefully that will keep happening and we can see those masseys fall further and further behind.

Thoughts, comments? Feel free to add to it if you were there, lets just not have to move this to the political forum.

Glad you did that, i do the same thing at the shows I've been to since Jan 2010, when they made the announcement. I go straight for the guys from Agco, don't even waste my time with the local dealer guys in booth. Someone on here a while back even went as far as leaving oranges in the booth, that was a great idea.

Thats Good news for Gleaner! I am glad to see them starting to fight back with the Super Series Gleaner combines! I would love to tour the Hesston KS plant some day to see the Gleaners being built.

It is great news that Gleaners are selling. I see it as customers thumbing their nose at Marty. He doesn't have much respect for Gleaner or any of the other traditionally American brands the way it looks to me, and I am sure he would much rather force a European brand on us, but if the market is going silver he has to go with the flow. It is a shame we couldn't do the same with the orange machinery. But if they weren't offering what we needed in orange paint, it was pretty hard to buy it. (tillage, planting, haying, large 4WD, compacts, etc.) Now they are falling all over themselves to offer tillage, haying and planting equipment with MF decals. Rather disrespectful to loyal Hesston, Sunflower and White planter customers if you ask me.

I sure have a dislike for the red stripes on the new Gleaners. I fear it is a glimpse of what is to come.............

That is awesome redline, I hope everyone keeps this up. I totally agree that the success of Gleaner is EXACTLY what the dictator does not want! Speaking of promises on Orange tractors, I had a letter that was sent to me from Herman Cain a few years ago stating that "we recognize the importance of the orange tractor to the NA market and it will never go away"; this from a board member! Unfortunately, my computer crashed and I was never able to retrieve it.

Speaking of Gleaner, I was just at a Boy Scout event and began having a discussion with another parent who is a very large operator somewhere in the neighborhood of 12K-15K acres. He inquired as to what combine I run, and after mentioning Gleaner, he stated that this was the best combine on the market. These guys are greener than green, but due to dealer locations, he said they cannot justify the travel. He said that the only way they can afford to run green is to roll every 2 years which they do. He asked about reliability and support and I pointed out that my biggest question mark is the knothead CEO and the trust factor that goes along with it.

Based on this conversation and others, there is no doubt that with proper management and market positioning changes, Gleaner would soon be #2 in NA market share. Putting it more plainly, if someone like Kevin B. were running the show it would be on track to get there. Unfortunately, common-sense-ville is not where the executive band resides.

Did you all look at John Deere Anhydrous Ammonia Toolbar?  If you look at where the wagon connects it should look very familar as it sure looks like Snap Coupler.  I asked two or three Deere people in the booth and they told me that it was a John Deere invention, nobody ever used it before.  I said that is kind of funny because I believe that it has been around since the 50's by Allis Chalmers.  They didn't have a comment and walked away!

That a boy!! Put them Deere fans in their place!

When they bring out the "I don't see any new Allis-Chalmers tractors" line just comeback with "Don't you guys know that Allis-Chalmers developed the perfect tractor in 1985 and were waiting on the competition to catch up?"

Was at the show today with my AC hat and Sweatshirt on. When I walked onto the carpet at the AGCO display you could just see by the look on their faces...."Here we go again" I also noticed in the Massey display they had a booth off to the side that was marked AGCO PARTS and SERVICE. Wish I could have gone to the show back in the late 70's

What do you mean another tractor, honey? That tractor has been here for years.

Talked to Kevin myself a couple of years ago at the show for about an hour, he's a real straight up guy.  Glad he's still on board and he's certainly an asset to AGCO.  AC didn't start Gleaner, they boguht it and improved it.  No matter what color the stripe is it will still be a Gleaner, rotary, which is as great a testament to Allis Chalmers as you can get.

1984 was the first time I attended the NFMS . Wow was I impressed by the Allis Chalmers display with the 6000 and 8000 tractors and Gleaner combines. I had just purchased a new  8010 fwd.
Loreta  Lynn was there selling records. They also were selling blue jeans with Allis Chalmers written on them. Did anyone else attend this show at Louisville?

did not look closely at the john deere toolbar, time restraints i ran thru the whole show in little over 4 hours stopping only where i intended on.  Did stopp in at the agco booth was pondering the idea of leasing a new tractor have quotes form all colors and agco is competive with the pricing, but after looking at the massey for over 15 minutes with 2 of my buddies and not a one agco rep come to us i said forget it they dont need my bussiness. 4 of the nicumpoops were standing there talking to each other and looked over there by us a couple times, i was looking at the 1 in the corner not the one out front so when i ran into my one dealer i been talking to, i told him to let me know some closer numbers next morning he called me ran my credit app and i am now in a different color.  I wound up buying and not leasing cus i founrd one i really liked and hours and price were okay i will post more later dealing now on another tractor had a few things go good for me lately and a nice way to llok into the future with some more acres to be farming with my equipment and not my risk as much.

It seems most of the kids they have stocking those shows never set foot on a farm let alone drove a tractor.

I went to Deere to get a look see and all I found was this:
http://salesmanual.deere.com/sales/salesmanual/en_NA/primary_tillage/2010/feature/nutrient_applicator/2510s_rear_hitch.html - http://salesmanual.deere.com/sales/salesmanual/en_NA/primary_tillage/2010/feature/nutrient_applicator/2510s_rear_hitch.html

Doesnt look SC to me or is this literature on a older version or different model?

On the subject of disappointing John Deere Reps I am Allis Chalmers by heart but i worked for John Deere for 5 years as a mechanic we were at an engine school for deere and they were boasting about there new design and first to use " water cooled injectors " I couldn't stand it so i said Like the 7010-7020 Allis tractors used in the 70's and 80's needless to say he shut up and i didn't get much attention after that.

When it's done by Deere it is always a first for the industry. Power shift, forward cab design, wasp tractor frame design and rubber tires come to mind that I have argued with Deere people about. Most copied tractor is the 4010. HA! Most copied combine 55. Double HA HA!

I don't care what anyone says, but the Massey Super Brutal Force from NC and the Pro Stock campained by Carlton Cope out of Ohio are two awsome machines to watch run and see.  I am pretty color blind to the big machine's.  I like the engineering that goes into them and what they are capable of.  I'm also pissed that I can't even go out and buy a new WD-45 from my dealer either.  What to do??

Tom,

If I am thinking correctly that is not the hitch they are talking about.  I saw one a couple years ago at the Farm Progress show and I thought of the snap coupler as well.

My brother brought up a good point to me about the Agco/Gleaner booth.  In years past they have never had much merchandise.  This year they had tons of shirts, tractors, buckles, ect.  All celebrating "end of an era."  He went to the massey booth and they had coolers, keychains, shirts, anything you can imagine with a massey logo on it.  It was like Agco was celebrating "we finally got rid of those damn orange tractors."

Nothing quite like rubbing salt into the wound, is there?
Eventually, they will regret the decision they have made.
