I bought a D10 today. It looks rough, but is hopeful. The serial number is D10-3067. The engine number is 10-4952. I assume this means it'sa 1961 withe the 138 engine? It turns good and is firing. The carb was full of goo and the float was crushed. It does have the 3 Point and live hydraulics. I've filled the fluid compartments, cleaned the fuel bowl, cleaned the points, and have the carb apart and soaking. Is there anything I should look for before running it? Thanks, Scott

I would pull the pan to see how much gunk is in there before running it. That way it won't get sucked up into the oil pump

Did you clean out the gas tank? Rust and crud flakes off and settles and it will be likely that it will clog up the gas outlet.

If it has been setting out exposed to the elements, it is possible that the rain water got into the tranny, it may be a good idea to pull the drain plugs and fill with fresh lube. While you are at it, pull the plugs on the final pans and top off with fresh fluid.

I acquired a fence row D12 to provide tin for one I was rehabbing. After freeing up the engine (and changing the oil/filter) it fired up and ran very good. So it is now undergoing a rehab. In that the seat and some tin were donated to my other one (these items are hard to come by), I have been using aftermarket items (the seat), fabbing up items (platform/braces/rockshaft pivots), and repairing items (tin) from the other one. The most difficult part was locating rear fenders; ended up obtaining D14 fenders and have cut them down. When my lawnmower CA is completed, the D12 will come back in the shop to install the tin and fenders.
The other D12 is completed and is now with a new owner.

Scott,  Sounds like you got a good one.  Listen closely to what is said above.  They are very experienced in restoring tractors and the lessons they have learned are priceless.
Sounds like you have a Distribuitor drive hyd system.  One spool or two?  And an after market 3 point.  Three point was not factory equipment till after we left the business (1962)  You know, I can't get over how well these units run after being left out for sooo long.  Guess they made them well.
Congratulaitons on your find.  Glad to see another Allis Chalmers gets a good home.

I put fresh oil in the tranny. I have not checked the final drives yet. I have the carb soaking and bought a kit. Was this tractor 6 or 12 volt?

Scott,  I am almost certain that your D-10 was a six (6) volt system.  In fact the battery box is behind the seat.  That means a LONG cable to the starter.  Be sure the posts and all connections are very clean.
