Time to put new radiator hoses on the G I'm restoring. Went to local auto parts suppliers to buy a 3 foot piece of 1 1/2" ID hose (need about 2 feet but I keep some on the shelf). First had just a short piece, but could order to be in tomorow. Next had a 2 foot piece but I had my heart set on some leftover for my perennial supply.
So today I had a meeting to attend which took me by 2 more potential sources. One had 22", no good, and the third had 32". Great! How much.
She wanted $1.47 per INCH. OUCH. So I came home and went online. Found that Dayco pt.# 81141 is 1 1/2" ID ad 12 1/4" long. It will work. Ordered two on Amazon for about $22 delivered. I know the local guys need to make a buck but does it all have to come from one customer(ME)?
Sorry for the long rant. Bob@allisdowneast

And to top it off, they probably had to wipe the dust off those hoses! I don't get it either.I needed a water pump for a Toro groundskeeper(ZTM). Local, litterally 5 minute walk, dealer wanted $500 ,7-10 day delivery. I ordered online from a place in Georgia and with shipping to Ontario ,Canada was under $130 !!!
If we weren't so far apart, you shuld have come here. I cleaned out a local garage and got 10 bushel bags jammed full of rad hose and fan belts. All NOS Dayco products.
Some dayze I just shake my head.....

That sounds like silicone hose, which runs about 16.00/foot
