New Member,Hello to all, and hope you can help me with the answer.I recently became the proud owner of the same D14 that I learned to drive and plow with fifty years ago.

It still runs as good as it did back then.

Any way the hook or latch whatever its called,inside the snap coupler bail under tractor, is dropped down and will not hold the implement thats trying to latch.I noticed in a parts list, theres a spring that looks like a bent coat hanger,and I think it some how keeps the hook aganist the bails top,but not sure.

It would seem to me, its too light weight to do that.But I don't know.Also on the front of the snap coupler facing forward,theres a much heavier spring that can be adjusted.It would seem to me, the larger spring would control the hook.If not what is the adjustment on it for?? If it does,whats the small spring for? Anyone have a diagram?I'll try to post the one I saw. Just scroll down and click on Hitch Drawbar Snap coupler....Thanks for any help,EB

The very large spring is the traction booster spring. The small spring is the one that keeps the hook up and they are prone to go bad over many yeras of service. When you are plowing and you get in some really tough soil the traction booster spring compresses just a little and activates the hydraulics which in turn raises the lift just a little and when it trys to pick the plow up it actually puts down pressure on the tires which gives more traction and lets the tractor go on. Get you a new hook spring and you should be fixed up. Someone else may have more info.JP

Don't adjust the large spring until you plow with the tractor. There are some specific adjustments that you really need the manual to do correctly. The small spring that keeps the hook up I think you can get from Norm's Toys. http://www.normstoys.com - www.normstoys.com . The spring for the snap coupler latch is still carried by any Agco dealere.
