Just wondering about the PRACTICALITY of a SB V8 in a CA?

I'm looking for more power, mainly for the snowblower and I can't get rid the picture in my mind of Pinky's CA (maybe it's Pinky I can't get out of my mind?).

I would prolly drop the compression ratio to similar to the stock B,C.CA four (Boy do they ever start nice even in the bitter cold!)

Are there cam grinds available for max torque at low rpm or other "detunuing" procedures?

Also, although I could make the adapter myself is there an adapter plate available so I wouldn't have to "re-invent" the wheel.

Any comments or experiences would be appreciated.

I'd think you'ld be better with a 6 than an 8. Decades ago I was 'con'vinced to replace the 258-6 in my CJ-5 with the 304-V8.Sure, had more highway speed but snowplowing suffered.

You need low end(low speed) torque,and the easy way to get that is with longer piston

stroke.Let's face it, you're not going to be doing 80MPH blowing snow, are you !

Maybe the G-230 engine from my Gleaner will fit ?? Has TONS of low end power and is orange!

I have seen it done to a C, the tractor had a frame made to go from the torque tube to the front bolester and a 305 chevy motor with a turbo 350 behind it. The tractor was quite long and looked cobled together. If I where you I would look for a D-14 or D-15 motor that would give you more power, plus it would be a bolt in install and should be enough to run a snow blower.

Hi, my friend put a D15 II 160ci into a CA and it sure looks original but man does that puppy go!!
