Whats the value of good running straight tractor with good tin work Series 3 with power steering.
Did all the series 3's have power steering? did a series 17 have any advancements over the previous series? can add factory three point hitch off later series 17's or any other later Allis. Appreciate your feedback.

I sold my Grandfather's 1964 in 2007 with the plow for $4,000.00 The tractor was very nice but I always thought that was top dollar for the set, it had power steering.

Power steering was an option series 4 is the same as a 170 Morley ------------- Farm stuff 8050,6690,175,F2,5050,WD |

I believe that when the Ser III came out Power steering was standard,have never seen a Ser III without power steering.Our 59 Ser I we had on farm as kid is only D-17 I ever saw without it.
Do not believe a factory 3 pt off of a Ser IV will bolt on a Ser III or earlier.Different rear end and hydraulics.All series before IV have to have an aftermarket setup. ------------- You only need to know 3 things to be a plumber;Crap rolls down hill,Hot is on the left and Don't bite your fingernails 1964 D-17 SIV 3 Pt.WF,1964 D-15 Ser II 3pt.WF ,1960 D-17 SI NF,1956 WD 45 WF. |

| Thanks good information. I thought I had heard the back side factory three point of the later series would fit. So does a series 3 have live PTO or again is it just by uitlizing the hand clutch? |

All 17's have live PTO, none had independent PTO. Claus, I remember when you advertised that tractor on the old forum. I sure wish I coulda come up with the coin at the time.

This is not true, the Series IV still on the farm has a power steering pump, my Dad's white strip 170 drives the power steering from the side hydraulic pump. My black stripe 170 drive the power steering from the front hydraulic pump. |

| I have a piece of D17 series 4 literature dated September 1964.....Optional equipment: Deluxe seat.....Power steering.....Operation meter (tach)....Air filter indicator.....horn......3-spool hyd valve.........break away and non-breakaway hyd couplers.........remote rams........front end weights......front and rear wheel weights......many different tire sizes. I too have never seen a series 3 or 4 without power steering or a cushion seat or a tachometer, but they were an option !!!! |

thanks Dr Allis power steering was an option on series 4 and mostly likely series 3.... probably by that time all tractors came with ps so the 170 came ps and the live hydraulics Morley ------------- Farm stuff 8050,6690,175,F2,5050,WD |

The difference in power steering between D17 and 170: D17 is a power assisted mechanical set up. 170 is fully hydrostatic - no mechanical linkage. We kinda got off topic about the Series III. | Ive seen a series 4 with no ps, It was on a local farm auction 20 years ago, it was a cherry, we were going to buy it untill they went o sell it and started it and I walked up and grabbed the wheel , and nothing happend, we went over and looked at the engine, and no ps pump or anything, I couldn't beleive it , cause it was a late model one too. |

| Have to agree -- value around here for a decent looking / running d-17 III is around the $3500 mark -- can go up with additional implements, and if is real close to the buyers location. |
