We've been doing all these picture posts and I have a real soft spot for old big trucks....I'm trying to get the cash together to buy a B Model Mack, maybe an old Transtar cabover, GMC or Chevy Cabover(40's or 50's) or something like that....let me know if you know of any for sale that arent ridiculously priced!

I love it! Those trucks had such style.....hardest part for me is they are limited on space between the back of the seat and the steering wheel....an area I tend to fill too much lol

Love that old GMC.  I had a 1965 GMC 72" tilt cab with a 702 cu.in. V-12 gas. I was a tandem highway tractor. Looking for one again. Maybe the one I have now will be a classic some day. 1997 Ford Aeromax (Sterling style cab) with 68" bunk and full flare package. The down side is the 3176 Cat power. Engine has a bad reputation but I've had no problems in 10 years and it has close to 600,000 miles.

I love big trucks too. I have 3 Brockways and some other miscellaneous trucks. Attached is a photo of my 1974 Brockway 361 with a relatively rare HuskieDrive power train. Note the twin dogs on the hood. If you look very carefully you can also see the front of my Allis Chalmers A in the garage.

Also attached is my 1952 Ford F-8 tractor. It is my best restored truck. 1952 F-7s and F-8s were the first Ford Trucks that came with a overhead valve V-8. The smaller trucks still had flatheads

I've always had a soft spot for the old Peterbilt trucks. But I think I will stick to tractor collecting because for the most part it is cheaper and I couldn't afford insurance on a lot of trucks.

My Dad had Hendricksons (1969's) and R model Macks (1979, 1985).  I guess I'm partial to those.  His Hendricksons looked just like this one (same trucking company) but had fiberglass flip hoods and Detroits.

Both of those trucks are sweet....my BIL's grandfather has a Brockway that is a twin to that....does that have the Hercules gas engine? I know where there is another twin to that but its dual axle and diesel as well.....and Thad...here is a link to one a bit newer but along the lines of what you want and its fairly cheap, just a bit of a drive for it is all.   http://classifieds.pennswoods.net/classifieds/viewad.cgi?adindex=1030731 - http://classifieds.pennswoods.net/classifieds/viewad.cgi?adindex=1030731

Benny,
The Brockway has a Cummins 270 diesel. Brockway used Continental gasoline engines in there older gas jobs. I have never heard of one with a Hercules but sometimes odd ball things happen. Attached is a picture of my 1938 Brockway 170X and my 1952 Brockway 260XW both with Continental gasoline engines. The 1952 is now torn down and one of those retore projects that are on the back burner!!!!!

Benny that would work great for what I want. It sure looks slick but now my wife is out to get ya.LOL My dad sold my cousin a real nice '55 with a real nice dump bed and factory fold down stock racks 48000 miles for $2500 and I just about cried. I want one to haul tractors to local shows. I think it would be neat. Lou SWPA had a link to some real neat old truck pics a while back but I can't find it. This is a great way to spend a snow day.

Bob, like the F series! I had  a 52 F-3 that I mistakenly bought for an F-1 years ago. It had an inline 6 OHV engine, 4 speed trans, and 8' pickup bed. Had been shelter kept. No rust and pretty straight body. Ran great. Needed brakes. Got all that fixed, then got bored with it and sold it. Would have made a cool toy hauler.

Thad, I know where a couple of old Macks are in Elberton GA. I believe they are B series. Don't know if you want to go this far for one, but PM me if interested, and i'll get the guys number for you.

Beautiful display of classic trucks.  Great Jobs on all.  Loved that model T.
You know, my favorate is not a big truck but a 1948 F-1 Ford Pickup.  It was our shop truck for years and we put 125,000 HARD MILES on it and it never gave a wimper.
In fact, every time I go to a classic or "Crusin" car show I always look up a 1948 Ford
F-1  - there are always there, maybe "rodded up" - and have my picture taken with it.
Memories!!
Good Luck!

That 46 GMC looks like the tow truck we had at station where i worked. Was a great truck and supprising how much power the GMC 6 cyl had . When they bought the truck it replaced a old ford that had a hand crank winch on it so was great to have a PTO driven winch.

Wow, I sure do like hanging out in this crowd! Many of you folks have the same interests that I do, obviously we have a thing for Allis Chalmers products, but then I find out trucks and railroads are popular as well.
We are all just a bunch of big kids here, aren't we?
This was my 1984 R model that I traded for a Ch613. That old Bulldog had character.
This my current truck, a 1993 Mack. FYI, the Blixxton tuner thingy will really liven a 350 Mack up. It will almost run with the big boys. Right up until it overheats. :(

Thanks. I don't know why I was so anxious to trade it. I suppose the 170" wheelbase and the bridge laws, but probably the main reason was I wanted air ride suspension. I know the R could have been converted, but I didn't have that kind of ambition.
That photo was taken as I finished putting her back together from painting. It was quite bland when I bought it, but the price was right.
