Would a set of chains for 12.4X38 tires fit 14.9X28's with about 30-40% tread or are they too narrow? I know I would have to trim some length off...

i think that the 12.4 would be a little narrow for a 14.9, they might fit but probably wouldnt stay on very well.

i would think not because the chain wouldnt come down the side of the tire far enough and you may have trouble keeping them from walking off. as far as cutting them down i see no problem with that...you may be able to sell those and buy the ones that fit . maybe someone with more chain experience will help out ...jmo....Jb
