Tornado at Oslo MN in 1930.

I can relate this to Allis. The guy whose house is in the background owned a WC and D15 along with an M and an old MM at one time. There are some stories to be told about the old guy who is gone now, like how he got his cloths ripped off of himself while in the field by the PTO shaft of a corn picker. He stood in the wagon, he told me, and waved at a neighbor for help as the neighbor drove by. The neighbor just waved back not knowing what had happened. He also had a steel wheeled tractor run over his head once but his head luckily just got pinch between two lugs. His left eye dropped for the rest of his life from that. I rented his 40 acres back in the late 80's and early 90's.

The wreckage in the foreground is a gas station. It was rebuilt and and one point my Grandpa owned it then two of my uncles then one uncle until late 50's or early 60's. It is still a gas station today. It was a Sinclaire station when my Grandpa owned it and it still is today. This picture is before my Grandpa owned it.

Lonn, That is a great, great picture.
What would make it nicer is a picture taken of the same area from the same spot as it is today.

Good idea. I should do that. The old house was taken down and was replaced by a new house a couple years ago. The other building is still there.

Actually in 1930 the house belonged to my Great Grandma Cora Senjem. Great Grandpa Martin Senjem was killed in 1916 when he was accidentally shot while wolf hunting near Oslo.

Man, those are neat( but sad) pictures.
If anyone thinks they have it 'rough' today consider that 'back then', no 'technology' to help after the storm passed. No bulldozers, mercy flight choppers, cell phones, probably no running water, etc. Just family and a few neighbours all helping each other out, picking up the pieces of their homes and lives.
Kinda humbling, in my opinion.

thanks for sharing the photos  !

Those old pics are pretty cool.  Things had to be tough back then. Looks like a 26-27 T coupe in the foreground and a 27' Tudor with some damage that was inside. I also see what looks to be a 28-29 double A ("AA") farm truck in the left backround. I had one of those myself....
