Anyone ever had the auger of one of these I need to put new bearing on the lower end can not get auger of. And yes I have nut of tryed heat and tapping no go any help would be helpful

My #10 Auger has a special short bolt with a round nose installed in the upper end of the Auger.
The nose of the bolt runs in a groove in the Gear Box shaft.
It's purpose is if you break the shear bolt while drillng a hole, the Gear Box will not separate from the Auger.
If you have this bolt, leave it in but remove the Shear Bolt.
Then go Auger some holes. It may break free. Worth a try, at the same time - heat.

Try again the roper shaft goes all the way through the auger and lower bearing is bad, shaft wont turn. Anyone ever have one apart how hard does it come apart do you need it in a big press to get it apart.

| Now where was I before I was rudely interrupted by that power outage? Oh yes, i noticed on the parts lay out that the auger is keyed to the auger shaft. Sometimes when a shaft turns so long in one direction with that much back pressure, the key "bites" into the side of the key way. If that is the case, you will break something before you get it off. Boy, don't ask how I know that ($$$). If you can see the key way in both the shaft and the part around it, make sure they are perfectly aligned. On our part, a crankshaft, you could not see that alignment because the key was a woodruff (moon) key. If you can keep the shaft from moving and hit the auger so that it rotates on the shaft in the reverse direction just a bit, the key will let go of the "bite" mark it made in the side of the key way. May not be your exact problem, but solved ours. |

Dave thanks for reply I think this one is just stuck tight. I can see the keyway it looks straight that you can see. I think its time to find big press and see what gives.
