I have a d-17 that when you turn the sterring wheel left the tractor takes the wheel out of  your hand and keeps turning to the stop. Is this a problem with a seal or valve. Any help would be great. There seems to be infinite knowledge on here please help. thanks in advance.

When my 45 does that the valve needs centered(adjusted) but it is a lot different that a d17 unit.Sorry I can't help but it sounds like some kind of valve issue to me.

For the valve to neutral it's self the gears inside the cast bolster must turn and move the inside section of the valve. You'll need to determine if you have a slack issue in the gears or a valve problem. Before you can determine which one it is you'll need to look at it and see if there is a lot of slack in the front end.

Sounds like an internal steering valve issue but, first oil the snot out of the splined coupler under the generator so things can slide freely. If it's all bound up from rust/dirt it could give problems.
