hello im new here. ive looked on here before as a guest but join up today. anyway i have a wd and i wanna make a nice puller out out with. wat can i do to get the most power with out changing the block such as head intake carb govener. wat are the specific parts. thanks in advance

I have heard you can put a 45 crank and pistons in it-no one can tell from the outside! The 45 carb is bigger and the manifold is different, so you might not get by with that if it has to be  'stock' .

i can put a ih combine carb and they would never notice here. and carrol county. but i have heard things about putting a 175 intake on it and a d17 head and carb. but idk how well it would work. and also hear about a 175 gov spring

have it overhauled with a D17 kit for a WD45, you'll need converted to 12volt to start it though. also 170 gov spring.

You can do abouts as much as your back pocket will let you.   A little over 5 inch stroke bigger bore 175 cam 175 gov spring  differnt valves port work for the head  Always raise the compression on a pulling engine into the 12.1 to 15.1 range. Torque gets real good at those compression ratios ? Gas is high but I havent found a thing that I enjoy that doesnt take some amount of money to do.  If you had the farmall c rod with the 1.750 rod journal stroked your wd 45 crank a 1/2 inch to 5 inches and had the 8.1 compression ratio pistons that i believe going by memory here had a compression height of 2.6 inches you would be at a compression ratio of 15.1 . Of coarse if you had a piston of less than 2.6 inches in comp.height then you would have less comp. ratio.

If you want some cheap power up the rpms with a D-17 or 175 govenor spring. You can also change the carb. For pulling I would find a larger set of tires and rims you can put on during pulling season. Remember whatever you do will make it burn more gas if your using it in the field. Our D-17 burns a third more gas in a day than the WD-45 and they both will do the same amount of work. If you are going to continue to work the tractor you probably wouldnt want to make any drastic changes which would affect the everyday usefulness of the tractor. Around here the antique pullers are all so modified that they are only useful for pulling. I wish there was a stock pull closer to home.

I put a 170 govenor spring and larger carb on mine a few years ago,and it made a big difference .

i only work it once a year pulling hay. they pay gas so the power is worth it. and ya i love my turck. 85 cab n chassis diesel. turned it up and done a whole bunch 2 it. but wa carb should i use also the intake. im think a 175 intake and mabe port and polish . tire wise i dont have the money. only think i got is 14.9 28s off my massy 65 that will fit. they are a bit bigger overall then my 12 28s but will it make much diff? i think the gov spring would be a good idea tho. do i just take the little plate off the govenor assy. or do i need 2 take my time cover off. beause i refuse 2 do that right now. since i just goe it 2gether.

All you take off is the plate on the front of the gov. housing. It takes a little finegeling to get the spring off and on. Be sure you got a good set of needle nose pliars.
