I bought a D17 4-5 years ago that ran pretty good but the PD lever was tied with hay string  on the high side and it pulled fine as far as I can remember.  Checked and the oil level was low in the PD so we filled it up and hoped this would help.  Untied the PD lever,  pulled it back an the tractor has not moved on its own power since.  We were busy and put it under the shelter where it has been since.  However, I got to thinking about it last week, put a battery in it and fired it up. It still doesn't move.  I'm no mechanic, just a jack leg.  Any help will be appreciated.  What should I do first.
Thanx   Gary

Does the lever have any pressure on it when you move forward or backward? May have shift collar worn out on PD.   MACK

No it doesn't seem to have much resistance so does that sound like the collar?
Thanx for you help.

Take the side cover off and look inside. If it is a older 17 there is a set screw that holds the fork to the shaft that could have worked out. There is also one on the handel that could be loose also.     MACK
