i hate asking stupid questions, but i'm an allis chalmers newbie.   can i put 16.9 x 28 tires/rims on my wd 45????

Yes but you might hit the fenders when the wheels are adjusted all the way in. My WD has this trouble with 14.9x28 but the fenders are higher on a 45.

Move the fenders to the inside of the mounting plates with a couple washers for spacers.  I think my WD45 diesel came from the factory this way with 13-28 tires.
