I think they were used in 1944, 1945 and a few in '46. I have a '45 with one.

I have a 45 with cast iron rear end and Dad has a 46 with steel. I think they built what they could when they could.

Ed Mills has collected a wealth of SN data on the WC tractors, including wartime production. Some of his data is posted on Bryan Smith's website. I personally know of a late '46 WC with the wartime steel rear end (SN 150xxx). When I sent that data to Ed several years ago, that was the 2nd highest wartime WC he had on record (the highest SN was 1535xx).  I am not sure if he posts here, but there was a user named Matt over on YT who posted that he has 153387 S.

Yes Brian, I'm floating around here every once in a while.  Still have that one.  Right now she's freezing her butt off out in the barn with a flat tire.  Need to fix that and probably clean the carb out.  Was acting up pretty badly this fall.  Has a cultivator lift on it, wouldn't mind finding a set of cultivators for it.

I just got a WC home with a war time rear end and the numbers appear to say wc540503. The first number is a 5 and not a 3. The picture is harder to tell.

Actually by looking at the other guys post that's a S so it says wc54050S

I would guess if it was cleaned up real well it would be WC134050S That is the only serial number that would make sense, making it a late 1944 model.

If it were WC154050S it would be a 1947 after there were no steel rear ends.  And WC54050S would be a 1937 long before that style rear.

I picked up a '45 a while back. Really good tractor over all. I will be sporting the arch frame wf and maybe foot brakes.
