Subject: How to make a G a "high Crop"

| I grow vegetables on raised beds and need a bit more clearance with the bottom of my tractor and my cultivation equipment. I have been thinking of two things. First, I could get larger rims and tires. I have also seen people modify the axles? Do you know of any resources? Thanks |

| Corbincdc; please remember that all "hi-crop" tractors have a significantly higher center of gravity (than normal tractors), and therefore are more vulnerable to rolling over when operated on a hillside, or going through a ditch, etc. |

Why not bolt a set of B or C finals on and then add your wheels?

Ok this may sound odd but..
If the beds are just '1 G wide', could you add concrete blocks or 8by8 timbers along the edges to lift the G up higher?
yeah, I know silly idea, jes another way of looking at it !

So if you used C finals, would the 30 inch G wheels bolt up. If not you could alter the wheel centers to make it so.

yea, and just the opposite when you add bigger 30-36-38 inch tires. Your speed will increase by the ratios of the diameter. For instance, if you have 24 inch tires and low gear is 2 MPH, if you install 36 inch tires that is 50% bigger so you will go 50% faster or 3 MPH. ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

All I was thinking is, if you start out with 30 in tires and have the normal speeds, if you add the C finals with their normal gear reduction, the tractor would be slow with 30 in wheels and even slower with the 24's.

By putting on the B or C axles, wouldn't you also have to flip the ring gear? Is that possible on a G? I know guys used to reverse WC's all the time.

I use concrete railroad ties for my raised beds....just drive the 175D up on them and drop the Howard rotovator for a one pass job. I then plant everything close together so it shades out the weeds....just takes a little work with a hoe. ------------- ALLIS EXPRESS! This year: |

| Thanks guys. I'm thinking I will go with the bigger tires and rims and modifying the front end. Similar to Joem's first post third picture down. What size do you think those tiers are? I was thinking maybe 13.6 by 38? Could I go bigger? Besides modifying the rims and front end are there any major concerns? |
