I'm new to the forum but have had a AC Model B for awhile now. I finally found someone that had, and was willing to part with, a 16" mouldboard plow and cultivator for the B last weekend. Unloaded and in my garage/shop now I am trying to sort out whether I have all of the pieces to the plow and figure out how it should mount. Does anyone have one and have some detailed photographs of what the plow looks like mounted from different sides? I found and ordered a manual off of eBay so, hopefully, that will clear a lot of the mystery up for me but pictures beat most of the black and white photos in reproduced manuals. I appreciate any help. |

There are 2 brackets that bolt to the front side of the final drive
housings and a drawbar that attaches to these brackets. There is a depth
adjustment handle that mounts on the right side of the torquetube and

Thanks, that helps a lot. I think I have everything for it, but will have to check it a bit closer tomorrow. The picture helps visualize how it would go on. Now all I have to do it clean it up, prime it, paint it and get it mounted. |

| Yes. You need plates that bolt onto the final drives to attach the draw bar though. The drawbar then mounts on those plates with 2 pins. |

Thanks. I actually do have a couple of plates/mounting brackets that I could not identify, and curious about what they were and how they mounted. One reason that this is so confusing to me is that the guy that I bought the plow and cultivator from bought a Model B, a sickle bar, plow, cultivator and a bunch of miscellaneous parts from an old farmer that made him take everything. We gathered up everything we believed could have gone to the plow and cultivator and loaded it all so I may have some parts that don't go to any equipment that I have. Trying to sort it all out is pretty confusing. I'm starting to believe, though, that I pretty much have everything if these brackets below are the mounting brackets for this plow.... Here's the photo of those two brackets. The top bracket is partially cut off in the photo.  |

Dusty, the last bracket is for mounting the coulter shank to the beam on the plow.

It would be interesting to compare part numbers. I've got several clamps that look just that for the cultivators for the G. Now I'm trying to remember how the colter is fastened to the G plow. My plows and manuals are in Michigan, I'm in Florida, and it's not all that warm here, all though there isn't any of that white stuff here. Good advice, I think I will look for a parts book. If it is either a cultivator mount, or the mount that connects the coulter to the plow, it is a spare because both implements have those all attached. Here is a better photo of that second bracket:  |

I will probably hang on to it since mine does not currently have one, but thanks. Looking around this morning, I also found a shim that goes between the PTO shroud and the PTO. Unfortunately, I have not found any mounting brackets for the plow. I expect that will be a hard item to find unless the guy I bought it from still has them mounted on his tractor. If anyone has a picture of those brackets I would appreciate you posting it so I can send them to him so he can see what they look like. |

Here's a picture of my plow for reference. Overall it is in pretty good shape. Just a few bolts that I have been unable to break loose so far. I am working from the back knocking rust off and starting to prime sections as I go... |

I remember the G colter now. It a concave one, and it's mounted on a flat bar, and can only be moved up and down. The manual for it says to move it up or down to control side draft. Good luck on your project. Dusty

That is an earlier plow for the B. Not the most common one. The brackets for the round plow drawbar are different than the brackets for the later one, which is made of rectangular stock and a round bar.
I have the brackets for the same plow you have, but they are snowed under, and I will probably not see them until spring..... Sorry that I did not take pictures when it was warmer out... :<(

Thanks for the information, Glen. The plow was bought with the tractor and the tractor was a 1939 Model B. My cultivator (bought from the same guy) is probably an early version as well. I'm trying to decide now whether to look for another plow or try to get the bracket fabricated somewhere. If you get them dug out and want to sell them, let me know. We have a big garden all plotted out and I was wanting to get it turned over soon so it'll winter kill the roots. I'm restoring the equipment to work it. |

| Like Glen said, you have the older plow. There isn't any thing wrong with using it, but the brackets that you need are different then for the newer plow. The plow drawbar that you have is longer then the newer one. I have several sets of brackets for the newer style. Bob |

Oh, I didn't mean that I didn't want to use it because it was an older model, just that I might need to find another plow that had the brackets if I can't find brackets for this one. To me older is better. Although madder than a hornet, I had to laugh when I used my '48 Model B to pull my modern 4wd tractor/loader back up to the house after it threw a connecting rod right through the side of the block. I swear the B was laughing as well.... |
