I was thinking about swapping out the old generater for an alternater. Just wandering if anyone knows which model/brand alternator would be the best fit for a D19. Thanks.

Cheapest one was the Delco 10SI , 1 wire hook up as is self contained reg and all. Now some new units are smaller and just as good. Use to be you could find a 10SI for under $15.00 just about anywhere. Nice thing with them is the pulley from your gen fits on them as shaft is same size.

The one wire version tends to need to be spun up fairly fast to get them to start charging, which is easier if you wire them with three wires anyway. On my conversion I found a smaller wide pulley in the electric shop's catalog that keeps the engine speed to about 1650 rpm to get the one wire alternator started. If I had used the generator pulley it would have taken 2200 or more engine rpm for that.
