Curious as to what would cause the hydraulic  pump on a WD45 to rattle when the hydraulics are in use? It started in '03 when we put the loader back on after we got new (used) loader arms when we first topped off the oil the pump for the loader. at least that's when I first noticed it but I was 10 or 11 then and don't remember hearing it before that. Is it normal? is there a simple fix?

Don't know what you mean by "rattle".The thumb screw on the front all the way out against the housing? That will make em squeal and slower if not.

Sounds exactly like mine, and every one I have ever used.  I think it is only because it is a four plunger pump, and at idle, you have a very distinctive pulse from each plunger.

All of mine do it too so it is either normal or a problem that does not get worse or effect anything

That is normal. It's more of a knock than a rattle. The heavier the load, the louder it will be.
