please. If any of you have any input on a New Idea 4 star tedder model 4217 I would appreciate hearing pros and cons. I will be pulling it with the D15 II so I'm hoping this isn't too much off topic lol. I pretty much have all New Holland hay tools but this 2004 model is like new and I can get it for a steal tomorrow. I see Hesston made it for New Idea and it is hyd fold and looks to be built as well as most, of course not including those that sell for 15G! I have never owned a rotary style tedder as I have always had a single row Grimm tedder. Thanks a million! Dana

Go for it. The rotary style tedders do a different kind of job than the Grimm basket machines, more aggrisive, and the field will have a different look than you are used to, but the hay will dry.

I'm pretty sure Hesston doesn't make a rotary tedder. I'm fairly certain they are made in Italy by what I would consider a second tier manufacturer. I bought a Kuhn tedder last year and they seem to be up there with the best ones. We only used it once, as it was the end of the hay season when we got it, but the rotary tedders are supposed to do some conditioning as they beat the hay. I also have a Kuhn rotary rake and I highly recommend those.

We have a 2 basket hesston really like it the D12 handles easily.

We pull a JD 754 4 rotor, manual fold with a series I and series II D15's. Its a Kuhn painted green.

The 15's handle it just fine, sure is fun to hear the governor open up when it hits a heavy wet slug. Andy
