I am about to rebuild my 301 in my 7020, but a good running 426 from a 7045 is available.  Can they interchange, or how much work is it to do so?  Thanks.

The 301 will be much more fuel efficient. Do you need the extra power? Dumb question eh. We always want more power.

Kevin you'll probabl;y have to change the radiator  also to keep it cool using the 7045 back plate and the front holes in the side frames of your 7020change the top hood sheet because the muffler hole is in the wrong spot maybe a few other changes on the linkage and thottle cable Niel

I've seen it done before so pretty sure it would work just fine but I sold my 7000 for a 7040 and like lonn said you really won't like the difference in fuel consumption.

As you say, could always use more power, it was just that a 426 has come available for less than what I can buy the rebuild kit for.  However with a rebuilt 301, I know what I have!

Guys, how much more fuel are we talking about vs. performance?   I will be buying a heavy disc sometime this year, and could possibly go a tad bigger with the extra hp.  Thanks again for all of the input.

All I do is haying but probly used twice as much fuel with the 7040 performance was great though never got hot pulling my batwing mower even on the hottest day unlike the 7000

On light jobs there will be a quite noticeable difference.

Adam, maybe you didn't have the foam around the radiator or if it was turned way up you might have cooling problems. I don't ever recall a cooling problem on the 190 XT and that's the same 301 but the 7000 301 should be  even better on the cooling end. Never owned a 7000 though.

I had the raditor redone and all the foam in place think a 20' mower in heavy CRP was just too much.
