I just did the math,  that is just over $7/gallon??? Here in PA, it is still give or take, $ 3.25 per gallon. OUCH!

I agree.  I just bought some for work last week and it was right around 4 bucks per gallon in the tax hell of Wisconsin.   If you're talking about the blue flame wall heaters, don't bother.   My brother in law had one in his two car garage and it wouldn't even keep it above 45.   I would buy a garage heater and be done.   My garage has a small modine in it and I love it.   Best money I ever spent.

Using #1 diesel but have to cover the air intake about 1/2 to get it to burn right. Unsure what the problem is but just use it to pre-heat things outside to get them to run .

The only place to buy it around here is at box stores like home depot for $52.00. I'm also thinking about propane

My heater won't light on #2 diesel and it's smoky on #1. Problem around here is not many places have kerosene. The good news for me is 1 fill lasts me the whole season as much as I use it.
