Does a WD and a WD45 have the same block or are they different?Thanks.

They are different. The wd block has a plate on the right side, the WD45 doesn't. Most of the 45 parts will fit in a wd block.

They will interchange, however, the WD block had a removeable plate over the tappet/pushrod gallery; in the WD45 there was no removeable cover as the block casting was modified to cover this area.
