I am a big fan of both AC and Oliver (AC a little more) but while I was doing my nightly search of the Tractor House and the Craigslist I noticed a few things. First is that both Allis-Chalmers and Oliver tractors are just beautiful tractors and are very easy on the eyes. Secondly, both AC and Oliver were leaders in the agriculture department, for example, AC was the first agriculture company to introduce a round hay baler while Oliver led the industry in the sales of diesel tractors for several years. Unfortunately both Oliver and AC met their dooms in the late 1970's and mid 1980's, Oliver in 1974 and AC in 1985. Now they are both part of AGCO, in a way it is nice that they are togeather but at the same time the only people who remember these companies are people like us who see that things would have been alot different without them.
As for the looking good thing see for yourself.

| I like Oliver stuff too. I have an Oliver 7300 Combine-Corn and soybean special. Came with a 12 ' flex head and 3 row corn. Have all of $400 tied up in it (before my tune-up stuff and new exhaust pipes) and it works. Same as a White but still in Oliver green. Well thought out machine. Drove it home 50 miles-won't do that again. On a relatively obscure road a transportation officer drove past the other way. Thought-OH OH, had nothing to hide and had it flagged and marked, but you know that there's always something they could find wrong. Anyways, away he drove and so did I. Mine has a 318 Chrysler industrial engine, parts for which are not that easy to source these days. |

I helped my cousins drive a MM 535 (I think) about 70 miles from near the PA border to Hinckley, Ohio. We started down the road at about 1 pm and got to their farm well after dark, I'm thinking it was in Oct. It had a 12' grain head on it but the roads back there are a lot narrower and much more heavily traveled then most of Colorado. I was sure happy to turn over the wheel to my cousin after driving through a small town after dark. It had a Chrysler V8 as I remember, quite a step up from the Massey 92. I remember growing up we had a 1010 case with a Chrysler 318 industrial, it was a good machine. When the original 2 pipes into one muffler rusted out it was cheaper to buy 2 glass packs, so thats what we did. | A glasspack is a type of muffler, it has basically has two pipes one inside the other going straight through with holes drilled in it with fiberglass packing around it. They have a good sound i have them on a couple of pickups. |

Guys would put them on in place of mufflers on old muscle cars. They will really rap out. After I posted that I thought I could be wrong. Sorry, I just figured everyone my age and older knew about glass packs. What surprises me are the 20 somethings I work with have no idea who George Jones or Merle Haggard are or even Hank Williams Jr! Local muffler guy asked me if I wanted my old 76 chevy pu to have a "Cowboy Cackle" when he was putting new exhaust on.Basically 2 glass packs on duel exhaust.He would do something to make them Cackle.Rat a tat tat.I passed, but hear a few around here who still do that. ------------- You only need to know 3 things to be a plumber;Crap rolls down hill,Hot is on the left and Don't bite your fingernails 1964 D-17 SIV 3 Pt.WF,1964 D-15 Ser II 3pt.WF ,1960 D-17 SI NF,1956 WD 45 WF. |

That D 21 in the Photo is my friend Bob Vanderploegs in our local show here in Lynden WA. That was the first D 21 in Whatcom County brought in from Connell in eastern WA. for his custom farming in the late 60's.He then used to pull with it with 20.8x28 tires dueled and that is the resaon I fell in love with the 21's when I was 8 years old.

I was just reading in Oliver Heritage magazine and the article was saying AC made spreaders for Oliver.
