This is a question for you southern guys. What would be the value of 122 one row picker mounted on D17 ser 3, with less than 250 hrs, barn find? Looks like it would work with a little oil on chains

The tractor is the thing of value. The picker would be a collector item and depend on if someone wants one. They would not be practial for harvesting. So I guess it is what the market will stand...

Buy it if you can sit on it for about seven to ten years. Do not change anything about it. Times are hard right now , this is the time to buy and wait it out. If things change you can name your price for it. If in ten years things are not booming, nothing will be worth any thing. You will be able to put that one row back to work because all large cotton farmer would no longer be large. This is a depression for poor people, right now. If the economy continue the way it is going there will be small farmers again . May be , May be not.

Like the posts said it has collector value. I have had several folks ask for one for shows...mainly yankees. My father ran a two row AC picker in the 60's and 70's, I believe it was a 616 model, I think it would hold a bale of cotton. If it only has 250 hours on it I wouldn't scrap it, I would hold on to it.

Not to be a dick but I'd only offer for the tractor and through in $100 for the picker for good measure because it really has no market value.That keeps you from having to remove it and should be close for scrap price.Once you get it, remove and preserve the picker 'cause something that unique should be "saved"..... in good condition!!

It was an all day affair back when I was young. The day to take the one row (116)cotton picker off, or put it back on the D 17 IV. If you do buy it, ask for the fenders/seat /draw bar for the D 17 and the stand to leave the picker on. I have a picture of our picker off the tractor I'll add later. (when I learn how). Just think about a D 17 with only 250 hours! I traded our D 17 IV 4 years ago, for a 185, wish I had it back!
