Being this is the "farm equipment" side, any of you fella's running cutter bailers like the AGCO 7433 or Massey 2150? Opinions on the cutter?
It's time to buy another bailer and I'm undecided if I want the cutter or not. Expensive option, more power requirement, more parts to replace, etc. I don't even have cattle or a need, I use the bailer strictly for custom work, probably 60% silage bales and 40% dry hay and straw.
There's a few New Hollands around here with the cutters and a few people think they need them, but the NH guys have plenty to worry about just keeping the units running.

| Hesston (aka AGCO, MF, Challenger, Fendt) still builds one of the best large square balers out there, the cutter option is only beneficial if you are charging more per bale from a custom harvest standpoint. |

| Johan, whats your opinion on the kvernland/kuhn balers? Kuhn bought them out last year and is now selling them in the US as kuhns. As i work for a dealer i went to the intro school last year and thought they were pretty stought, but was curious what you thought since they've been around you area much longer. |

| The only thing I know is that AGCO builds the NEW HOLLAND big squares for Europe. If you go to Hesston at the right time of the year you can see them. That says a lot about what New Holland has for a big square. |

The New Holland big square balers here in the US are built in Belgum by New Holland. There's several of them locally and I know 3 people with them, friends neighbors etc. All newer balers, one brand new this year and 2 that are probably 3 years old. I get to work with them now and then or sometimes do some service or work on them now and then.
I know a few guys with Krone balers and a few with the Hesston, Massey or Agco whatever you wish to call them.
The Krones are alright, but they cost a lot ot operate between gear boxes and cv joints. There's a lot of nice features, that don't alwayse work.
The Hesstons in the area are new and old, some with 3000 bales on them and some with 50,000 and 90,000 on them. They all work. There's a few minor break downs now and then but simple to fix, common items on hand and it's not rocket science to figure out why something isn't working, and it's usually a simple matter to fix in the field or just keep going to finish the job.
I've been around enough of them to know that I'd take a Hesston with 100,000 bales on it before a new New Holland.

| did the hesston factory tour in 2005 when i bought two 4910's, and cruising around out back after tour and saw 4910 with new holland stickers, and saw some bound for belgium. gm of dealer that took us could not believe his eyes! |

If im right New Holland buys only one model of baler of Hesston because they don't make a particular size baler that Hesston does. New Holland only sells it over seas to fill in a void in there lineup. It is actually amazing how much these companies work together. Has anyone noticed that Agco, CNH, Deere/frontier, pequa, and H&S all have the same big wheel rake?
