First off, a 7045 didn't come with a Delco alternator. I'd guess you have the wrong pulley ..... the correct pulley will line up with the waterpump and crank pulley.

Yes I'm sure it's been changed from the original.Would the correct pulley need to be OEM, or will a alt. supply co. be able to get it?

Just use the pulley off a neihoff alt., oem, and you will have correct rpm. Make sure though that the grooves are not wore out and you have good belts., Mike

The delco alternator should use a larger (tach correcting) pulley for the tach to operate correctly ,otherwise the rpm will register higher than it should.I don't know the exact dimension of the pulley.I get them from Select Parts  in Omaha.

Lynn so your using the delco style alt with a pulley from Select Parts and the belts line up correctly and the rpm is correct? Thanks everyone for the help. Was thinking about making another bracket to use with the delco alt.

The 7000 used a Delco 10si with a tach output on the alternator (3rd spade terminal).  I wonder if this pulley would line up and be the correct size for the other 7000 series?

Yes on both counts, belts line up and tach is correct. At least as correct as can be with a belt driven system like this.Hurst-the 7000 tractor pulley is to small, plus it use a smaller width belt than the 7045.
