Hi,

Can anyone help with this problem. My 53 allis type B (UK built) idles just fine, but as soon as you throttle up and put it any load on the engine, it just dies. Have completely rebuilt and cleaned out the fuel system and carb but has made no difference. any help appreciated.

Cheers

With everything assembled, do you know for sure you have a good flow of fuel to the carb bowl?

or is it a timing problem where you have not spark advance when the motor speeds up ?

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Yeah check the firing order, trust me your problem sounds very, very familiar. I spent several days spread out over several months figuring that out. oops.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for much of anything but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

Thanks everybody for all your replies. Have checked out firing order and it is ok. The model I have is magneto ignition, is the ignition auto advance built into this? (not too familiar with magnetos). Fuel up to carb and seems to be through to manifold. Throttle seems to work and the revs increase when this is opened. As soon as I engage drive and release the clutch, the engine just dies. Could a blown gasket or faulty piston give this sort of trouble? Beginning to wonder if this is something serious.

I would now suspect the governor is not working properly, kinda like the trouble we have had in the State of Illinois in the last several years. It might not hurt to check for manifold leaks with a can of WD40 or brake clean.

Will it run wide open just sitting for several minutes?

I would check the air breather mighthave mud dobber nest in it. Have a C that would die as soon as you throttled it up and that was the problem
