I got a 185 that sent the rod thru the side of the block have Chance to get an engine out of a combine. Will it work I’ve heard they have longer crank snout. Is that true any other things that would need to be fixed or changed

There's a lot of variations in those engines. If it's a 2800 series from an F or early F2 combine, it would come close. Cam or crank driven oil pump is one thing to be considered. Front plate for the hydraulic pump is another.

What year or serial number is the tractor??? Makes a difference on which oil pan it can have. What year and model of combine is the donor engine coming from ??

1978 185 would have the crankshaft driven oil pump with the deep oil pan. Combine engine turbocharged or not ??

The original post mentions a 2800 combine engine. I would assume that it's from an F or early F2,and that it's non turboed. But,who knows. Engines get changed and altered over the years. A 6080 engine or one from a later F2 would make for a sweet project.
