The battle of Chosin Reservoir in North Korea. It was fought in sub zero temps, more soldiers suffered from exposure, either died or lost limbs, than died from battle wounds. temps -20 to -30 below and battle lasted about a week. The Chinese suffered far worse. Reports vary but from what I have read, about 1200 battle casualties for US (UN), 7000 non battle casualties! Chinese losses are estimates, but I have seen some estimates as high as 10X that of the US(UN).

Hey guys, if you think it is cold right now, can you imagine how cold it would be without Al Gore and his inconvenient truth and global warming?  If it weren't for global warming, it would be so much colder out there today.  Wink

50 to 60 degreesF here right now with bright sun.  Been that way for a few days so far and forecast is for warm temps for the next couple of weeks.  Southern Ab was up to 70F yesterday!  Snow is pretty well gone now.
Hard to tell about a month ago I was snowed in with the biggest drifts I'd seen in 20 years!

Minus 14 when i got up to milk. Plus 20 mph winds . At least i got power. Not brave enough to turn on silage unloader and i think i will shovel out the drop rather than test the barn cleaner chain. Spreader should be fine. Makes all you guys wish you were still milking cows

Back in late 90's had a snowstorm after a mild spell , had bought diesel and filled backhoe - then with snow and cold it went below zero - fuel jelled when driving to jobsite to plow heavy snow - had to tow it home and put in shop , change filters , treat fuel and go out again after machine thawed out .
Found the place I bought fuel had filled their tanks with straight #2 rather than winter blend - they credited me for the fuel purchase and said I was not the only one who had a problem

Life lesson: If you’re being chased by a lion, you’re on a horse, to the left of you is a giraffe and on the right is a unicorn, what do you do? You stop drinking and get off the carousel.
