Had a rebate card for a motor oil rebate stuck in my wallet, Saving it for a rainy day. Just looked at it and it says good thru November 2025. Don't forget to use the gift cards you get for Christmas before they expire. Merry Christmas

Last year I tied a gift card to my Amazon account, made it a lot easier to remember to use it.

Always letting coupons and gift expire before I think to use them plus missing one day sales at HF because I don’t have time to drive over there.  Thanks for the reminder.

They shouldn’t expire but if the business closes, or in my experience, new owners, they are no longer valid.

Gift cards never expire in Ontario ( probably Canada). Went to court as money was already in the stores bank account.

In my case I was talking about a loaded debit card that was sent for a motor oil rebate. I will try it next time I go to the farm store and get the check out lady I know. Worst that happens is it is declined😢

Kind of hard to get blood out of a turnup though.Wink I had several hundred bucks of Sears gift cards. I managed to get to a Sears store an hours drive away and turn it into tools Smile in that stores going out of business sale. If I would of missed out then it would be rather hard to get much out of Sears today.

Cry I lost $10 to $40 at a local Chinese tool store. They started in 77 or 78 sell cheap tools. The owner was good replace anything that you broke. I got tired of breaking braker bars for 1/2 inch sockets and paid up for a Proto finally. But he traded me several times no questions. About 2000 he moved to a much bigger store. Soon after we got a Home Depot and about 5 years later, I went by and the local tool store was empty. It would be really hard to get the change I had on my last gift card from that store. Even though California has the law gift cards don't expire.

Depending on State laws, in some States, merchants are not allowed to issue gift cards with expiration dates.
A couple years ago when unpacking some ‘miscellaneous’ marked boxes, uncovered a couple Shopko gifts cards, seeing as Shopko went bankrupt, and closed up years ago, those gift cards are worthless.

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.
