Hello from Australia. Ok have been ever so slowly repairing my AD3 ( I believe) graders, of which I have saved 3 from the wreckers. I believe I have enough between the 3 to produce at least 1 running.
My question is what year were they made as I can find no reference on line or in the serial number section.
The serial numbers are:
2F- 113
2F- 161
2F -341
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tim Allen.

Aussie serial numbers don't jive with American serial numbers.  Thus any of the books I have won't do  you any good.  You'll have to find an exclusively Austrailian solution...Confused

Allis had a plant in Oz, might have been around Newcastle.  I have no idea when it and the Oz serials came into use but the one for our AC Forty Five does not correspond with US numbers

Hi Tim, I posted a little bit of info that I found about Australian-built graders here -
https://www.allischalmers.com/forum/australian-m100-grader-year-of-build_topic203510.html" rel="nofollow - https://www.allischalmers.com/forum/australian-m100-grader-year-of-build_topic203510.html

In terms of the age of your graders, looking at Norm Swinford's A-C Construction Machinery book, the AD3 and AD4 graders were in production from 1946–51.  The AD3 has a GM 3-71 engine and 7.50 front tyres; the AD4 has a GM 4-71 engine and 9.00 tyres, which seem to be the main difference between them.  Just in case your machines are a bit newer, the AD30 and AD40 were the replacements, and they were made from 1952–55.

As the others posted, the serial numbers listed in the appendix of Norm Swinford's book are presumably just American-built machines, as none have the 2F- prefix.
