Been trying to engineer a disc brake setup for my 180.  Basically removing current dry brakes, fabricating a rotor/hub that slides over the axle with a center the same as the spline of the axle, fabricating a caliper to retain the rotor bolted into the bearing retainer of ring and pinion gear.  Thoughts?

Just wondering why re-engineer something that has proven to work effectively for so many years

The caliper should be designed to drop in from the top rectangle hole and be secured with external bolts. Why?? so you can easily replace brake pads as they wear without pulling the final drive/axle back off. Calipers would have to be hydraulic applied. Then, what are you going to do for a brake lock ?  trust a hydraulic master cylinder ??   Or is this a pulling tractor??

This is just a heavy use loader tractor.  Tired of wearing out brakes doing heavy work.  New brakes from A&I, shimmed perfectly to spec and still wear out with heavy usage.  I also enjoy a good project
