This information appears to be unobtainium - does anyone have specs on the pitman arm for a no. 5 sickle bar mower? I really just need to know overall length. The standard wooden pitman arm for an Allis Chalmers No. 5 sickle bar mower is 26 inches long. There are 2 different pitman sticks used on the #3, #4, #5 and the B/C mower. Which on you need is determined by the type knife connection you have. Clamp on or spring loaded. You can figure out the length needed by yourself: Move knifer to either inward or outward position with a section centered on a guard, Position the crank arm in the matching position and measure what is needed between the straps at each end. ------------- If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. Well... see here's my problem. The mower is currently stuck in place due to sediment and corrosion from sitting in the dirt for years, so theres really no way, at the moment, to move the knives. The old Pitman rotted off due to this. There is a spring on the cutter bar, just inside where the pitman would be. I'd assume that means spring loaded. I guess all things considered I'm not completely concerned about an exact measurement, but a ballpark number while I get the cutters free is fine.
