At end of week will be making a Three week notice to employer. Satisfied as to proving I am No Longer young enough for the hours and demands of the job driving a end dump. Things continue to goad me, the Gout, cracked my less than year old denture, clothes are not fitting as well. Need to get out and smell the air of a good long walk, get back together with my retirement brethren as they have noted missed me as went back to working. See family in fits and spurts where that need be more regular as I come closer to 70 February. Young persons job and I have proven I am gotten too old.

Hoping to make end of October then will slow more and rest a lot more. Almost feels generational.
Dave

Well Mr. Miller, Sounds as though you have thought this out sufficiently and have some activities planned. Keep moving and enjoy yourself. I am now 75 and retired almost 11 years and have never had the first regret. Don't make as much money but I don't have to get up at 6:00 AM if I don't wnat to and have time for lots of enjoyable things. Hope all goes smoothly for you and you take those walks in the fresh air.

Yes, When I retired and was building our retirement home my wife said her and her daughter was talking and thought i needed a partime jog. I applied and got hired at Lowe's. That worked out great, as a Lowe's employ any thing I special ordered we got for 10% over Lowe' cost. So we special ordered everything that we could, along with a Lowe's credit card got most purchases at 0 interest. after 6 1/2 years the cement started to bother my knees & hips so I retired, I think that was 2013. We have 5 acres and I keep busy with the garden and all our flower beds. I am 80 and still can do everything I want to do. Most people do think I am that old to look at me.

Don't miss the driving Tankers which I did for 4+ years until wife got on Medicare .
So did a little local driving with dump truck filling in for friends company .
Next he asked me to work driving a dump on city sewer job - 2 years in a old tandem , sometimes would haul 3 loads in and out in a day as most jobs had 3 trucks on them .
Then for 4 years drove a end dump each fall picking up leaves on city streets , 28 ft trailer on single axle MACK - route and crew had 2 end dumps on it and couple tandem dumps for sweeper pick up .
Drove tandem dump at airport hauling snow off gate areas about 5 days 2 years ago, airport hired around 30 dump trucks and night work (and cold)
Well now at 82 I just have 5 days driving the tri-axle dump for sewer job fill in driving this year
But my CDL physical is good for another year so might renew it after then , or fully retire but Class A drivers license is 3 years to expiration

Life lesson: If you’re being chased by a lion, you’re on a horse, to the left of you is a giraffe and on the right is a unicorn, what do you do? You stop drinking and get off the carousel.

Have Plus 12 years on myself, but the beatings as Mechanic and Power Station Operations member already took their toll.  Can drive, and most days still enjoy it, is the less than functional behind the wheel of other machines that are driving me out as well.   Back broken does not help, arthritis, the recent bout of Gout, there are numerous issues am facing daily do not wish to continue at, earned my time off long ago.
