Have owned and operated Deere, Allis, Perkins, IH and Cummins diesel engines on the farm for close to 55 years of memory. Was fueling the 7045 Friday afternoon getting ready to start cutting silage. Ever since last fall when we got it all fixed up tip top mechanical shape she has ran awesome. I was listening to it and thought this is one of the sweetest sounding engines of all I’ve ever had.

The first half a load of silage, smiling from ear to ear, suddenly I felt like a shudder go through the tractor. I slowed down and holy crap what a serious miss! Smoking (black) something awful. 😞

Injector tip blew off ??  A pushrod has jumped out of place because the adjuster bolt backed off ?? are the two most likely.  Pay attention to the blow-by hose or remove the oil fill cap with the engine running. Bad puffy blow-by is a failed piston.

Thank you. I’ll check it out, but I won’t be fixing it here. Beyond my facilities. Though I would love to and learn.
