I finished the painting on my B now I have a nice looking tractor and everything went back on successfully except for the Wico Magneto.

Can someone make me smart enough to put this on and have the tractor run!  It was running fine before I took it off.  I have no problem with a distributor so I figured how hard could it be to put a magneto back on.

Any help would be appreciated.  No sense being stupid if you can't prove it... and I'm proving it because I bet it's simple once you know how.

Read this from Rod's site on B's:

seeing as you have a B, there is alot of other great information on there as well.  Hope it helps.

set the engn. on # 1 & center mark on fly wheel  turn mag. so coupling lugs line up with drive . see what  plug wire terml. the rotor points too with the points open use that one as  #1  fireing order is 1 2 4 3  clockwise on mag. cap . make sure eng. is on comp. stroke or you will be 180 off. fine time it after starting.

Sounds good Pumpkin Man, kind of simple.  On the Wico I want to be sure I have the rotor on the magneto in the proper alignment.  The gear on the magneto has two teeth that are beveled.  Is that the center point and if so which way does the rotor go on with that as a reference?
The site Chuck mentioned is very good if you have Fairbanks magneto but mine is a Wico.

Nothin' wrong with Wico Mags either. Good Magneto. They were the back-up Magneto on the assembly line when the tractors were being built. You always need to have another vendor to supply parts in mass production. The Wico "X" & "XH" series were the popular replacement to the F/M "J" series back then. I don't rebuild as many Wico's as I do Fairbanks units on the AC machines, but they are a good unit also when freshed up or rebuilt...
