Where to get standard piston rings for a a 1944 allis b ?? Also this tractor has the 125.5 cubic inch motor after 1943 right ?? |

the engine serial number in on the left side bell housing area of the block... should be CExxxxxx ... CE means 125 inch... The older engines (116 inch) were BExxxxx... and the number might be on the back of the enging behind #4 piston area...... Original engines are 3 -3/8 inch bore i beleive... If you get an AFTERMARKET kit, they are 3- 7/16 bore with new liners... ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

if you are SURE you want the 3-3/8 rings and uses the original liners an pistons... and cant find anything but the oversizie 3-7/16.... then i hae bought kits and individual rings from HASTINGS... It has been many years. They use to sell direct.. Sn 69865 makes my b a 1944 model with 125 motor right ?? Can you get a standard piston rings and a standard complete rebuild kit ?? |

i think all aftermarket kits are 3-7/16 bore..... If your getting liners and pistons, then it dont make much difference... only use the 3-3/8 if your trying to SAVE the old liners and pistons.. your motor SHOULD be a 3-3/8 bore, but is 80 years old... No saying that someone didnt put a 3-7/16 kit in it 30 years ago ??

normally you would not buy rings before a teardown... Inspection will show if you need liners and pistons.. a complete 3-7/16" "overhaul" kit for a CE125 engine is about $500. I have done several engine rebuilds using the OLD 3-3/8" liners and pistons, or good USED liner if needed... That way you only need a set of 3-3/8 rings..

| it would be foolish to order any parts before teardown. You may have undersize bearings and oversized sleeves. Your crank may need ground. |

That tractor is more than 80 years old and has quite likely been overhauled a time or three. Until you get the head off and measure the bores you really don't know what you need. Steve gave excellent advice, please re-read his posts carefully before ordering parts. Have fun!  |
