I pulled the old leather seal on my IB and replaced it with a CR rubber lip seal # 13865. I noticed that the shaft has oil return grooves in it. It appears that the seal is on the surface before the grooves but I'm not sure. Do you think this will be OK or should I fill the groove with JB Weld? Thanks.

best just to monitor it and see if it leaks..... Might be OK... Others have done the JB weld in the groove or bought a stainless sleeve to go over the shaft ( speedi).....

Thanks. The shaft looked good so maybe I'll get lucky. I plan to flush the tranny with diesel fuel only because it's cheaper than kerosene, then drain and run universal transmission/hyraulic for a few minutes, then drain and refill with the same. Are any of the diesel additives a potential problem? Any tips?

how bad is the oil ??? I would be tempted to skip the diesel unless it is pure junk. Put the hy/trans oil in and run several hours.. Wait a few days or a week... Then drain and do the final fill...you could use something CHEAP for the flush and drain..

dont forget the old final drives... they normally get neglected !
