How do I replace sight glass in rear diff? or what is best way to seal? It looks like previous owner tried some white silicone but not working.
Also looks like it has water in it - need to do a complete oil change and filter replacement.
thx

A socket fits, I think 3/4" and it uses an oring to seal it. They are on the AGCO Parts Books breakdowns. Pretty sure they are pipe thread, and new ones are available still.

If you are talking about the sight glasses on a 7000 series on the left side of the rear end housing, I removed both glasses and put a elbow fitting with I believe half inch thread and a hose barb. Point of them both up and looped a plastic tube between the two of them. Choose a tube size that bends gently for your choice of setup.. I chose plastic fittings so as to have a more flexible tight/ stopping position. Now you have a sight gauge that works for you.. Dale

ok thanks for replies. I will be up to ranch tomorrow and try socket. when I looked before it just seemed like the plastic/glass bulb was just in the housing without seeing any hex fitting but one does have bunch silicone on it...
And yes I am talking about 2 sight glasses on side of rear diff housing.

It's kind of a round dome shape, but has 2 small ears on it that fit in the v of the socket. You don't tighten much, so not a lot of socket engagement is needed.
