If it has a properly functional generator it should, if it has an alternator, probably not

the battery is part of the "VOLTAGE REGULATOR" system.. When you disconnect the battery, the generator (12v) can put out around 20 volts because it has no feed back regulation... You could blow the head lights if turned on.. I dont THINK it will damage the COIL... but not guarantee..... your further ahead to have SOME TYPE of battery in the system, even if its not in very good shape.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I believe the D-15 uses an actual voltage regulator rather than the simpler light switch method of the earlier tractors; if so, it 'should' keep the voltage under control.

Agreed that it is better to have a weak battery rather than none, but you certainly do not want one in there that has a shorted cell.
