Bringing home an Allis 720 with loader and backhoe. It hasn't run in over a decade. I know there will be plenty to do, hoses, probably repacking cylinders, rebuilding valves and who knows what else. I'm going to pull the plugs, oil the cylinders and turn the engine by hand a few times before I even try for the starter. Remove cooling shrouds and clean all the junk out. Generally take it real easy on everything as I'm bringing it around. I figured maybe engage the PTO clutches and rotate the engine by hand and see how that feels. Hydrostatic transmission and I'm not familiar with them really. I'm going to get all the manuals I can but if there's something I should be wary of as I go I'd sure like to know. I don't want to mess up.

Hopefully they drained the gas tank and carb.

A Gas/Ethanol mix will create a massive amount of rust.

I leaned that the hard way on a brand new 11 HP Engine.

If that's the worst of it I'll be lucky. I know there's one burst hydraulic hose and the rest are probably ready to go.

Broken Rear Axles and Bent Cylinder Rods, say nothing about rotted hydraulic hoses on a fifty year old machine.  These are a sub frame add on backhoe -loader component machine and not designed from the ground up to be a loader backhoe.  Wish you luck on this one.

There's a reason it hasn't run in 10 years, look carefully!

Hoses for sure. They're all kinds of mummified. There might be one or two I can keep as spares but I'm going to do all of them.

The story I got is a guy bought it new and ran it a long time then he died. A grandchild ran it a little while, blew a hose and then it sat for 12 years until it ended up with the PO and then a few months later I bought it.

I'm sure there's plenty more hiding and I'll find it as I bring it around but it doesn't look like it got thrashed on too badly, just neglected.
