Anyone here familiar with the Old Wives Tail (OWT), that a rain on Easter Sunday means 6 more weeks of rains?

Yes, I have heard it say; if it rains on Easter Sunday, you will get rain 6 out the next 7 Sundays.

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

True so far here. Zero planting in my area. Pretty much everybody got leveling passes done 2 weeks ago then rain, rain, rain. I could have planted some but calling for 3in down pour. No thanks. Of course it didn't rain that much but early and cool made me chicken.

Wink Kind of depends on your address. Out here on the left side, Central California inland side of the Coast Range, San Luis Obispo county. April is the end of the rainy season, not that I have not seen odd ball storms in every month that put out more than a inch of rain. But have yet to see any weekly rain this time of year. But have experienced some really wet Easter Sundays with 2 or 3 inches of rain for the day.

The worst for getting nothing done was 1983. Middle of Jan, finishing barley planting. Less than 5 acres to finish, just barely got the seed and fertilizer trucks out of the field, 2 miles to the gravel. Was late in April I got back to the tractor and drill. Embarrassed Sorry to have side tracked you all.Ermm

Seems to hold true most years IIRC. This year was a dry day last Sunday and this one is supposed to be dry also. Though we got enough rain between Sundays to make up the difference

I heard it as 'rain on Easter Sunday, rain for 7 Sundays'.
