... had a guy ask about putting axle seals in an 8600 Ford tractor - does one have to pull the axle housing or can they be replaced by just pulling the cast iron centers :-( and drive in from the out side ???? I disagree with the  above person Steve posted from, like most later Fords the 8600 has a planetary final drive, it and the brakes have to come off to remove axle to access seal, not necessarily hard, but involved and heavy parts------------- Allis Express North Georgia 41 WC,48 UC Cane,7-G's, Ford 345C TLB |

Ha! After my fiasco helping my buddy work on his Ford tractor I most definitely do not qualify as a Ford guru!
