Were there any wide front WD’s. I really don’t know. I know I never seen one, but that doesn’t mean anything. I have a friend trying to sell one. He doesn’t know anything about it. I only seen pictures of it. It obviously been repainted years ago and the decals say WD. But it has the three bolt wide front and a curved shifter. Surely no one redone a WD45 and put WD decals on it.

Yes. All WD's were offered with an adjustable width wide front axle. All WD's from s/n 127,007 and newer (1952-53) had the curved gearshift and was the same exact transmission as the mid-1953 release WD-45.

Yep, there are almost 20,000 WDs out there with the curved shifter. WFE was 3 bolt from the factory for WDs but sometimes someone puts a 4 bolt on one later in life.
------------- 1939 B, 1940 B, 1941 WC, 1951 WD, 1952 CA, 1956 WD-45

They say the 4 bolt came with the introduction of the diesel 45. Plenty of 3 bolt 45's around which was likely just a continuance of WD 3 bolts.

I had a local used machinery jockey trying to tell me that the tractor he was trying to sell was a WD45. It had a straight shifter. He as much as told me I was crazy when I told him no WD45's had a straight shifter.

Junk jockys and auctioneers will say anything to make a sale. many could tell the difference between an Allis Chalmers or a Case if it doesn't have a decal on it
------------- If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY
