Still a common sight around here. Almost a large pickup sharing the same cab with the smaller breathren. Probably a 350 with a Clark, or Spicer five speed, and two speed Eaton rear.Could also be a 366 engine but the 350 was much more common.
See a lot of old tractors, wagons, implements, and trucks as yard ornaments around here too. Most have a history with the associated farm they are located at from years gone by.

W900 Kenworth Tandem Coal Truck #28
https://ibb.co/b5Z8DHmH" rel="nofollow">
Owned by: Carl R. Johnson of Cynthiana, Kentucky
This is a Coal Truck.
Note how much taller the sides are than that of a rock/gravel truck; Coal is much lighter than rock.
Note the crossmember above the tailgate, always absent on a rock bed.
Also note the small center door incorporated in the tailgate for dumping Coal precisely into an auger hopper.
Load that bed to the gun-wales with rock and it would be far too much for a tri-axle, let alone a tandem.
This bed can also serve as a rock bed so long as you don't overload it; note the tailgate chains for spreading rock.

Hilt's Garage 389 Peterbilt Wrecker Hauling a Wrecked Wrecker

The Wrecker is heading Eastbound at Mile-Marker #34 and he's got her in the wind.
Demolishing a Wrecker is a common occurrence when lifting and retrieving heavy wreckage; it looks like they have done a pretty good number on that white Wrecker.
Hilt's is headquartered in Abingdon, Virginia.
He is 190-miles from home.
Scroll sideways through https://www.hiltsgarage.com/" rel="nofollow - https://www.hiltsgarage.com/recovery.htm" rel="nofollow - In the linked photos, there is a Roll-back visible in the scene; apparently, the Dozer has broke it's moorings and slid off the Roll-back = a common occurrence when metal tracks are on slick metal beds and not sufficiently anchored.
I wish I could have been better prepared and better situated (a bit farther away) for taking these photos; as it is, he topped the horizon and BDBDBDBDBDRRROOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!! he was gone.
I had to brace myself to keep from being sucked out of my seat.
The whirlwind sucked the cap off the head of one of those guys ahead and it went 160-feet in the air before settling in the grass on the other side of the highway; a bird built a nest in it while it was in the air.

Three "359" Petes and an Autocar

The 1952 Autocar DC-102 belongs to Johnny Brennan of Paris, Kentucky.
As best I can determine, all three Peterbilts are "359"s.
Each has different head-lights and different breathers; and, there is a wee bit of difference in each grille.
The split windshields differ a bit as well.
The wipers are every which way on all three.
The nearer truck, the red and silver one, gives the illusion that it has a taller cab and windshield; however, I believe that is due to a difference in the visors.
If you are going to Renfro Valley, it does no good to wash and black the tires; Renfro Valley is and always was a swamp; I have been there when several big tractors spent their day log-chaining people in and out; and, some that don't know how to drive, slip and slide and crash into others; more than a few have returned to their vehicle to find a fender knocked off.

2008 GMC C7500 Cattle Truck
https://ibb.co/PskR6pGv" rel="nofollow">
Parked beside KY Hwy 80 East in front of Dairy Queen.
This was a common sight fifty years ago and rare as hen's teeth now.
The cattle rack is most likely either a Bean or a Cain; in any event, it is at least forty years old as it has been that long since anyone has made them.
I don't care much for the truck under it; plastic mirrors, plastic door handles, wimpy car wipers, plastic cab lights, no wing vents, plastic rocker switches, and that pathetic aerodynamic windshield such that you can't see a thing when it rains; a LTL9000 Ford, or a 359 Peterbilt, or a W900 Kenworth would be a much better choice and would be something you looked forward to driving instead of dreading the next trip.

Check out the classic "Taylor" pinstriping. In the 70s/80s/90s, no truck was complete until Taylor of Louisville worked his pinstriping magic on it. I have seen him do trucks in the parking lot of Taylor County Stockyards and also on slow days at the Gaddie-Shamrock quarry at Zion.

Variations are not year model specific and determining the year model without a VIN is nigh impossible.

You've got to love that speedometer and those big gauges, clearly labeled in big bold American English; I bet at 100-miles-per-hour she is like floating on a cloud; I bet there ain't a quiver in that steering wheel.
Notice that stand-off that puts the non-cancelling turn-signal switch out there flush with the steering wheel so you don't have to be reaching in under there to operate it.
The dimmer switch is in the floor - where they belong.
Just visible beneath the steering wheel spoke, top-center of the dash, is a crank-handle that I believe will crank open the bottom edge of the windshield and allow a ton of refreshing breeze to pour in the cab.

First of all love all the pictures of the cool trucks and things you see out and about. There are some real gems there!!! Second, the Dixie truck is NOT a T800. The T800 had a much more sloped hood. This is a W900L? And the only reason I question if it is the L variant or not is most of the short hood W900 ‘s didn’t have the second set of cab clearance lights. Therefore making this one a W900L. Very cool truck nonetheless and would love to know what’s under the hood of it.
