Used "Power Crater" pistons and the sleeves ?? I guess if the sleeves didn't have any or hardly any ring edge, someone might use them. Thos old A-C Engineers seemed to have things figured out. If those engines received regular oil and filter changes and had the air cleaner maintained, when they started using oil bad enough, everything was worn out. The sleeves had a deep ring edge. The top piston ring was loose up and down in the groove. The valve guides were worn out and the center main bearing needed to be reground undersized. All depends how good of shape they are in. I have no idea what eight sleeve Orings would cost?? $40 bucks ?? |
got my rebuild kit from Jensales, liner o-rings are a few bucks a piece, so not terrible. wish the liners were better shape, I think you could use 4 of the 8.
7 sleeves as the one engine had the #4 rod bearing cap come loose, damaging beyond repair the camshaft, removing part of the #4 sleeve and thrusting the crank forward to remove the thrust washer material on the #1 main cap. I think in the end itll likely be a package deal, 1 running engine and a incomplete parts engine. this started out with having a engine that leaked coolant from between the block and head to aquiring 2 new to me WD45 tractors and making 1 good engine from 3. lesson learned...make sure the sleeves do not protrude more than spec. prior owner put in different sleeves but were too proud of the block(I didnt see this) and it leaks profusely when you are running. but I got 2 good rear rims(from 6 total), a good hyd pump and a bunch of sheetmetal so thats a plus!
