. The WD45 is my favorite tractor but one design flaw has caused me to lose more religion than I care to admit. That flaw is the way the PTO shaft attaches to the PTO drop unit. The "blankety blank" thing should have splines so removal would have been easier. With the current one any damage to the stub shaft or PTO shaft and a major hassle lies in store. Yes, I admit saying way too many bad words. Any of you feel the same?

Definitely a weak point. When the holes get egged out and there's no lubing the carrier bearing. Wouldn't have taken a lot of engineering to make it better. Left over design from the WC. Surprised it handles the power as well as it does. I've had one or two situations where I thought I tore it up for sure.

The bolt serves as a shear so it'd shear instead of tearing up gears.

I agree Farrell, definitely not the best design. I leave the shafts off 99% of the time.
