A couple years ago I noticed a kink in the drawbar. Upon closer inspection I found it had cracked through on one side of the first bolt hole for the hammer strap. I heated it slightly and bent it back using the hydraulic press and then welded it. Then I bolted a piece of hardened steel underneath to spread out the load somewhat. Now I have noticed that the entire drawbar has been developing a bow, not really bent in any particular spot. Should I try to straighten it, just flip it over or find a replacement?

I bet its bowing towrard the side you welded. If you try so straighten it it will probably break again. The olny way to really straighten it is heat it cherry red in the welded area and then straighten it. That would take the temper out and it would bend. The only way ti fix it is to retemper it and anneal it. The heat for tempering woukd relieve the weld stress. I said all that to say id get another drawbar and keep that one fir a standby

I should have said it is bowed downward. Are they prone to bending over time? The tractor has been hooked up to the bale processor for the last twenty some years and I think the shock of the bale dropping off the forks into the chamber is taking its toll.

Ive never had one to bend but ive never a repeated shock situation either. Id turn it over and run it. Id get a spare just in case stress in the other direction causes it to start cracking

Just my opinion - Id put a safety chain on the tractor to impliment if on the road- Had a friend with a One Eighty pulling a round baler , drawbar broke and caused quite a mess
